 North Island Show Hunter Champs:

The wind blew and the rain was at times torrential, but this did not deter our team of riders competing in the North Island Show Hunter Champs at Manfield Park, Feilding. Simon Wood and Kerrin Wood represented our club in Category A, Emma Thurlow and Maria Sanson were in Category B, Courtney Myers rode two mounts in Category C and Jamie Thurlow rode two mounts in the Hack ring. Each rider completed four rounds of jumping, where they were judged not only on jumping style, but also on smoothness and style between jumps.

Twenty four teams from throughout the North Island competed, with forty eight riders in each category. Courtney Myers was second with a fantastic score of 97 out of 100 in her final round. Way to go Courtney. Great riding all weekend. Courtney was also placed sixth in equitation. Jamie Thurlow gained eighth place on Farmer Bay and eleventh place on Pepperanne. A consistent performance all weekend.

Although our other riders were not placed in the top twenty, they rode well with many clear rounds between them. As a team we ranked twentieth; a much better result than last year. Our riders represented our district with pride and enthusiasm. Great work team!

Carlyle Ribbons Day:Yet another windy day for riders to compete in, but this year the hail storms did add to the miserable weather. Over fifty riders from throughout the Taranaki and Wanganui area came to our ribbons day, held on the 11th October at our Waverley grounds. Riders competed in flat classes including ‘Best Riders’, ‘Best Learners Pony’ etc.

Congratulations to our successful pony club riders
